PRP for Hair Restoration

Regain Your Confidence

PRP therapy is a proactive therapeutic option for male and female patients experiencing hair loss. PRP is an exciting non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who require stimulation of hair growth for hair loss conditions.

What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is concentrated blood plasma containing approximately five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. Platelets promote healing and aid in the clotting of blood at the site of a wound. Growth factors promote the regeneration of the cells in the body.

PRP has been used in medicine for the last two decades, and its benefits of platelets are widely known and accepted in medical literature, but its usage in recent medical conditions is currently being studied. The use of PRP has the potential to revolutionize the way hair loss is treated.

How Does PRP Treat Hair Loss?

If the hair follicles or hair roots are healthy, the growth of the hair is healthy. Hair follicles survive on the nutrition they get from the blood supply. Administering platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to damaged hair follicles amplifies the body’s naturally occurring wound-healing mechanism. Some doctors around the world believe PRP can be used to stimulate the growth of hair follicles preventing hair loss.

“As a woman with hair loss, this is the only thing that makes me excited to see hair growth. Every time I go to my hair stylist, I don’t know who’s more excited—her or me! Everyone comes over to look at it and get’s Dr. Howell’s name. I am so excited and can hardly wait to see each month how much more growth there is. My husband and I know this is the BEST money we ever spent. Thank you, Dr. Howell!”

How is PRP Therapy Performed?

The treatment is done in-office and requires preparing a small amount of the patient’s own blood. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge and spun into a powerful serum to help initiate cellular regeneration within your scalp. The PRP is then recombined and administered via a series of injections over the recipient areas of the scalp.

How a patient responds to the procedure can vary from person to person, and will depend on the intrinsic healing ability of one’s own body. Individuals receiving PRP therapy exhibit improvement after about two or three months and can be repeated every four to six months, depending on the level of response.
