What is KYBELLA®?
Submental fat, more commonly known as a “double chin,” can be one of the most frustrating aesthetic features to eliminate. Fortunately, KYBELLA® now provides patients with a quick, easy, and relatively painless way to get rid of this extra fat without the need for surgery or extensive downtime. KYBELLA® is the first and only injectable treatment that is FDA-approved to remove fat from the chin area.
How Does it Work?
KYBELLA® is made of deoxycholic acid, a chemical that is naturally produced in the human body to aid in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the chin during treatment, this compound works to break down the fat there. As the fat cells in the chin area are destroyed, they are gradually removed from the body over time. This leaves the patient with a slimmer, tighter, and overall more sculpted profile.
*Unless otherwise stated, models are used throughout this website. Individual Results may vary depending on many factors not all patients “feel” or achieve the same results. Each of these injection sessions takes between 15-20 minutes to complete. Most patients need to undergo between two and four injection sessions for significant, lasting results, but some patients can require up to six sessions. Side effects like numbness, redness, itching, tingling, and bruising are common, but usually subside within a few days of receiving treatment. While most patients experience a few weeks of social downtime, this period is significantly shorter and more comfortable than the recovery period associated with alternative methods of removing chin fat.
Am I a Candidate for KYBELLA®?
Nearly any man or woman with excess chin fat that is interested in removing it without surgery or extensive downtime is a potential candidate for KYBELLA® treatments. Interested candidates must be over the age of 18 and in good health to undergo these injections. It’s also important to keep in mind that KYBELLA® is a treatment for excess fat, not excess skin. Patients with sagging or drooping chin skin will need to undergo a different cosmetic treatment to correct it.
